Þorisstadavatn
(Lake Þórisstaðir)
Location
At Þórisstaðir, you can choose from three lakes to fish in. Þórisstaðavatn, Geitabergsvatn and the north part of the Eyrarvatn and the lakes are located in Svínadalur in Hvalfjörður, near Reykjavik.
Distance from Reykjavík and nearest township
Distance from Reykjavík city centre is 82 km via Hvalfjarðargöng (Hvalfjörður tunnel) and 27 km to Akranes.
Practical information
The lakes are three and they are all part of the Laxa in Leirarsveit area, and the biggest one is Þórisstadaavatn, covers an area of 1.37 km2 and rises to 71 m. above sea level. The deepest point is at 24 m. Salmon run through the lakes.
Accessibility is quite good, making this an ideal place for families to combine fishing and camping. Nearby you find a hotel, a country pub, horse rental and a swimming pool

Fishing potential:
One might expect catching brown trout and char. Occasional salmon might also be caught.
Daily opening hours
From 07:00 am - 10:00 pm (09:00 p.m. from August 20th).
Season
April 1st - September 25th.
Bait
All bait is allowed: fly, worm and lure.
Best time of the year
Fishing is equally distributed throughout the season.
Rules
It is only allowed to fish in all the three lakes, but not in the rivers running through the lakes.
Littering and off-road driving is forbidden. Cardholders must sign up at Þórisstaðir and show both Veiðikortið and an appropriate ID. Children under 14 are allowed for free, if accompanied by adult cardholders.
